He returned to his country and found ways to contact them as soon as he could, and they have talked some way EVERY day since. He calls them Mom and Dad and family. The Redmon's attempted to get a student visa for him, but he was denied because he is an orphan. Shortly thereafter, they found out he unknowingly had many siblings, and this made him available to be adopted! It was a huge shock to him, but he quickly realized this meant hope for him and his siblings when there was no hope of family before.
We had the extreme pleasure of meeting and getting to know this wonderful boy while we were adopting our son, Albert, from the same orphanage. Albert says he is the "best guy" and that he wants to be like him when he is older. When Albert learned that his friend could be adopted he made us promise we would do everything we could to help bring him home.
International adoption is very expensive and requires a large lump sum to make it happen. It is a LARGE SIBLING GROUP, and just the flights home will be over $10,000! Mike is working as much overtime as possible in his job as a police officer to make extra money and they are applying for several grants and hosting many fundraisers. Our goal is to get their story out there and raise as much money as we can to support them.
