The Meriden Humane Society is one of the few No Kill Shelters in CT. We receive no funding from the City of Meriden or the State of CT. We rely solely on the generosity and support of our friends that share our mission, that Every Life Matters. Our Spay A Stray Fund was created due to the number of cats that are dropped off at our shelter, especially during the spring and summer months. As much as we want to help every person that walks through our doors with a cat that they have been feeding outside, or a cat they own as a pet that they can no longer keep or care for, we simply do not have the funds to keep up with all the requests. This time of year we receive so many calls asking us to take in momma cats and their kittens. Every cat that comes to our shelter has to be vaccinated for distemper and rabies, tested for leukemia, and spayed or neutered before they can be put on our general population floor so they can be adopted. Our monthly vet bills are by far our greatest expense. Help us help more strays! Thank you so much for your consideration!
