Lucy Mae Potter

On March 19, 2015, Lucy was diagnosed with type 2 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. SMA is caused by a mutation in the survival motor neuron gene 1 (SMN1). In a healthy person, this gene produces a protein that is critical to the function of the nerves that control our muscles. Without it, those nerve cells cannot properly function and eventually die, leading to debilitating muscle weakness.

Lucy is 22 months and has already weakened. She once could crawl and has now lost that ability. She is also unable to stand on her own. There is a lot of equipment needed for our sweet girl. This t-shirt will not only help contribute to equipment she needs, but also help in raising awareness of SMA.

We are so thankful Jesus has blessed us with our precious Lucy. There is not a day that goes by she does not bring joy into our hearts, as well as so many others. It has been so hard to watch as she's slowly lost muscle strength these last few months, but there is ALWAYS a smile on that baby girls face. She is always happy and content. God has a special plan for our Lucy Mae, and our hope is in Him!

“And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. Psalm 39:7
