The Columbus Food Co-op will serve and strengthen the community by providing wholesome foods and products while practicing and encouraging sustainability. Over 700 member-owner families have signed-up and we’re working hard to secure a downtown location for the Co-op! We have been building the co-op community for the past three years through outreach and education with cooking classes, street fairs, the Food for Thought Film Series, participation in the Farmer’s Markets, and much more. Show your support for this initiative by purchasing a shirt!

This will be a grocery store for everyone. Co-ops focus on the people they serve and follow the 7 cooperative principles:
1. Voluntary and Open Membership

2. Democratic Member Control

3. Member Economic Participation

4. Autonomy and Independence

5. Education, Training, & Information

6. Cooperative Among Cooperatives

7. Concern for Community

Community members form co-ops to obtain goods or services unavailable from the business sector or government. Co-ops employ and serve people who live in the community and unlike major corporations that frequently ship the profits off to investors, they return the fruits of the enterprise to the community.
