When I returned to teaching after months of rehabilitation, I showed the students my prosthesis and talked to them about wearing their bike helmets. Afterward, I overheard one first grader tell another why bike helmets were so important. She said, "You can get a robot leg, but you can't get a robot brain!"
Not a day goes by that I'm not grateful for my bike helmet. In an accident that injured so many parts of my body, I sustained NO HEAD INJURY at all.
Please consider buying a t-shirt to help me spread the word and celebrate this special anniversary!
All proceeds and donations benefit MAGEE'S LOCOMOTOR TRAINING PROGRAM, funded by The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. Magee's LT Program helps people with brain and spinal cord injuries get back on their feet again. I have many friends who would not be walking without this program! This Saturday, I'll be joining them for Magee's 24-hour Step-A-Thon, WALK IT OUT. (To learn more about it, check out the photos below or click the link above.)
Stay tuned for more information about participating in my BIKE HELMET BLITZ, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Everyone is welcome! But whether you walk with us or not, you'll be spreading awareness every time you wear your "Got Helmet?" t-shirt!
HAPPY 5 YEARS STRONG!
Thanks for celebrating with me!
